Anyone ever got a guard to go up a surface guard tower?

I just noticed in the visual editor there are path presets on the towers! But I've never gotten a guard to get up there. You can start one up there though. Maybe just in case?

Also this level has almost no path presets. Guess not too many obstacles or turns.

One more thing, you can shoot through wood of towers heh.

I was playing Surface the other day and remembered this topic, so I decided to try luring guards up the towers, it didn't work. They have no trouble following you up the ladder to the ventilation tower, I wonder why they can't get up the other ones?

hehe, did you cheat and start them up there though? If not, if you went down could they fire at you?

I didn't cheat, I only used Fast Motion.
And they could fire on me when I was down. Smile

They'll never shoot you from up top tho unless you're up there. I think it's why they never implemented.

You can actually get guards to aim up (not sure about down) at you in Silo if you shoot at them while you're on a walkway above them, again they won't actually shoot you though.

If you have a guard up there facing towards the ladder they might be able to shoot at you when you pass in front of them. You'd want to give them a custom action block that forces them to stay up there, otherwise they'd just jump down and follow you like a normal guard.

would it be possible at all to make guards in sniping towers stay there and even shoot you from there if you gets to a certain distance from them?
The reason to question this is, obviously, the fact that normally guards don't shoot at you across a clipping gap, but still they can aim at you ir programmed accordingly.

The game doesn't normally allow enemies to shoot at you that way, but, can they be programmed to do so?

I remember trying this (and failing) in Silo, but I was a total newbie with action blocks at the time and it's possible I screwed something up somewhere. Now that I think about it, when I was trying to make my own ally blocks instead of copying Rare's I managed to make a guard that would shoot at other guards through any obstacle, so it could be done. Let me do a quick setup.

Edit: Okay, this is strange. I made a sniper that checks 50 units around himself, if Bond's in that range he's supposed to aim at and shoot Bond. The problem is, it doesn't work, and it's not the block's fault. If I change the guard to shoot to another guard, it works perfectly fine. Is there anything special you need to do to shoot Bond other than using $F8 as the guard ID?
