I thought you guys would get a kick out of this. I have an Xubuntu installation here I that like to play around with occasionally, but I'd never really bothered with Wine before (I have a perfectly good Windows installation, after all, and I actually prefer using Windows for several reasons). I figured a good test would be the setup editor, but at first I had no luck getting it to run. Once I figured out how to get the DX9 dlls and the VC2008 redistributable package installed on here, though, it started working fine.

The main editor window. The program crashes when you close it, but that's not really a big deal; I haven't gotten any crashes when using it.

Even the visual editor works:

You get an error on startup, but it works fine afterward. As you can see some of the text is a bit screwed up, and you can't insert guards or objects (the menus come up with nothing but a 1). You can insert pads, set the start point, and do just about anything else. You can insert objects and guards through the objects menu and change them to pads you insert with the visual editor, of course (the screwed up text makes it hard to see the pad number, though).

Overall, just a curiosity for me, but I'm sure there's someone out that uses Linux as their primary OS that could benefit from knowing this. Maybe I'll write up a more detailed tutorial so we can put it up on the Vault.

Yeah, I really wasn't expecting it to work at all (which I suppose it technically didn't, since I had to install a whole load of Windows dll's before it ran). The issue with inserting objects and guards, and inserting guns and hats on those guards in the visual editor seems odd to me though, since everything else is working (mostly) fine.

That's pretty amazing in fact. I don't think I want to advertise it, but I can mention it if someone has only linux.
