You need the Goldeneye Setup Editor, available for download at http://www.goldeneyevault.com. You also need a fresh Goldeneye ROM and the level patch that you want to apply. In the editor go to tools->Apply IPS patch or tools->XDelta Patching->Apply GE patch, depending on the type of file. Select the ROM and the patch and re-save. Now you can emulate it! Easy as that.
And, someone who knows, correct me if I'm wrong, you need a fresh ROM for XDelta patches, right? _________________ 304 HP |

Really? I thought I had used a patched ROM for an ips one time. Guess not. Is there a way to add multiple patches to a ROM? Like to have all of TAKA's storylined missions in one ROM? _________________ 304 HP |

*Edit* OK I've downloaded it and tried to patch it but now it says that I need to verify the ROM. How do I do that? |

If it says invalid ROM when you try to emulate it try renaming the ROM or adding a .z64 ending to it, that has worked for me. Patched ROMs are generally slower. There are some settings you can adjust with each ROM to help it run faster, but I can't remember what they are and I can't look it up so maybe someone else can help you with that. _________________ 304 HP |

Slowdown: If you right click GoldenEye 007 in the PJ64's main window and click Edit Game Settings --> and view the Rom Settings tab, you'll see the proper ROM configurations for Goldeneye. Each time you patch a ROM with a new level you need to make sure you change the settings on your new ROM to these settings, otherwise you'll slow down quite a bit. You might also want to check and make sure that Direct 3D Clear Mode is set to Always, as this will fix the sky glitch. Be sure your patched ROM's have these Rom Settings...
You can easily and instantly play a new level. Simply download the stage from GE Vault and extract the files somewhere on your computer. Then you need to open the Goldeneye Setup Editor and if it's an IPS do Tools --> Apply IPS patch. Then open a GE Normal ROM --> open IPS patch file --> and save the patched ROM with the same name or a new name. When saving with a new name such as these examples:
Just make sure you add the file extension .rom because if you don't the file type will be "File". You can easily change the type of file to a ROM file by renaming the ROM in your PJ64 Roms folder or wherever your ROM's are at to, for example, GoldeneyeLibraryMission.rom.
Generating patches: Whenever you create a stage you can create an XDelta or IPS by doing Tools --> Generate IPS Patch or Generate XDelta Patch (PD or GE). You select an unmodified (Clean) ROM of Goldeneye and then select the modified ROM that has your new level on it. Then you can save your level patch and submit it to us for fun.
I hope this has answered your question and welcome to Shootersforever newcomer. |
