In the rom settings I changed the counter factor from 2 to 1. If your computer is fast enough to handle it, gameplay is much smoother.
EDIT - (feb 12) - Just an update, this project is temporarily on hold. But I DEFINITELY plan on finishing it, at least this time I took better notes and better organized my files so I don't get totally lost when I go back to work on it. I just needed a break, I spent many hours creating the new rooms and lighting, it got rather tedious. |

I've decided after several years of hacking retirement to resurrect this project. I've located most of my source material (key word is MOST, I'm missing some stuff but nothing too major). I don't have much free time to work on this but its something I'll plug along at a slow pace.
Here's a new teaser pic - the dam tunnel imported and painstakingly connected to the runway:

There is a Watch in high quality link on there for a better quality video.
Those rooms are basically finished with great attention paid to detail and lighting. |
YES!!!!! This is what i'm talking about! We are not even CLOSE to finishing GoldenEye. BMW that is astounding work bro. Hey can I add an idea? I was thinking what if we had stairs up into the sentry gun blinds? More sniper areas Very nice work bro. Can't wait to try it!! _________________

The ones up high in the mountains, those ones are not practical to give access to - there's just no easy way to modify that area.
BUT, the one just past the brown door that doesn't open, I'll definitely be putting a room back there. |

A little lighting goes a long way in visual effect. The paint brush sure makes this much faster to light.

I've finally gotten some more of my work converted and imported to the editor. Here are some in-game screenshots (some lighting effects still needed but much of the lighting work is done in these screenshots)

Looking great!
How are you doing the clipping on stairs? Are you clipping every step individually or just did a ramp?
I want to have the "step by step" feeling in the map I'm working right now, but the character usually gets out of the tiles (getting behing the steps or floating above them). Well, one turnaround would be to slant a little the vertical tiles; that has worked for me replacing vertical clipping. |

I'm clipping every single stair. The trick is to make sure that you have 2 and only 2 vertical triangles per stair. This means that if your bg data has more than 2 tris and you're converting bg to clipping, you will have to make modifications. Also you may have to make modifications to landings so that the first clipping triangle on a landing piece connects to your stair. It can be tedious but its the only way to get vertical clipping working so that you don't "fall off" - this also means being careful that stan convert doesn't break up your stairs into more than 2 triangles per stair.
To illustrate:
And thanks everyone for the positive feedback. I'm not sure what I'm calling this yet, though this will probably be strictly a mission - I can't imagine that framerates will hold up at all in my finished product in multiplayer mode - runway is slow enough without the additions. |
