 |
|
OK I'm trying to convert a .obj from Crafty to a GE room. Here is what is happening...
The top screenshot was created using the old editor v2.0. This is how it should be. The bottom one was created using the new editor v2.4 using the same exact room positions file and texture file. When I convert .obj to GE room (axes swapped), the new editor appears to be inverting my room over the X-axes - you can see my windows have moved to the other side and the room has moved considerably to the right as well. I double and triple checked to be sure I was using the same option in both editors and I am.
I tried the non-swapped option and all that did was flip my room vertically over the y-axis. |

You should be using the non-swapped version. The swapped version I guess got changed for blender at some point, but I actually was thinking of getting rid of it because I stopped supporting it across the board at some point. It got too confusing at some point. Your obj file must not be the wrong orientation (not Y = up), Z = positive. |

Well I created my rooms in Hammer then exported to .bsp and used Crafty to convert the .bsp files to .obj files. Everything looks fine in Hammer and in Crafty.
When I use the non-swapped option in the new editor, here is what I get...
The room is not upright.
Oh well, looks like the best option for me given the work I've already done is to just use the old editor to import my already-compiled rooms. |

Your tools are definitely not outputting Y = up, and Z = forward. Perhaps they have an option. Can you post a sample obj? |

Your right, x was flipped. I fixed it. Broke it when optimizing this thing. If I'm leaving flipped in, it mights'well work. I had to compare to an editor from 2009 to see it.
In any case, your crafty export the Y is not up, and Z is not forward, instead Z is up, and Y is forward, and X is left handed. But the swapped room import should be ok now. Grab the beta editor and it should be fine now. |
