I posted this elsewhere last week, but didn't get an answer. Even if you don't have a definitive answer, all thoughts are appreciated.

Someone from xbox-scene a few years ago mentioned it's possible to play goldeneye x and new created single players on modded xboxes:

http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=727357

Unfortunately I can't seem to contact the poster anymore. The big problem he said is that the xbox camp and the PC emulation camps have never worked collaborated. However since the xbox N64 emulator called Surreal64 ported over the 1964, Project64 and UltraHLE from the PC, he said that a modded xbox CAN play these modded levels.

Does anyone here have experience playing modifed or new goldeneye levels on a hard or softmodded xbox?

I don't have a softmodded Xbox (or an Xbox, for that matter Razz ), but can GoldenEye/Perfect Dark themselves be played without any issues? If so, my guess is they have specific settings for the games that aren't getting applied to the hacks because of differing checksums, same as the PC emulators. The real question then is whether these settings are in a user-editable format, or if they're internalized. If they're internalized, that sucks since you'll have to recompile the emulator to add support.

Well that poster on the xbox scene forum claimed it was possible.

He said you could do "Heavily" modified hacks of goldeneye on an xbox such as take the boat to the other side of the dam etc.

Guess I might just have to make a copy of my goldeneye ROM file on my xbox and play around with the copied one and see if I can save modded levels in it.

Hopefully some of the other residents here see this post and can offer their thoughts or even experience with this.

P.S. The surreal 64 emulators have setting such as changing the amount of video memory, Dynarec memory and Paging memory. I'm not a great programmer like you are. Just taking one C/C++ course in my life in college.

Does this page offer any clues to you? It talks about the surreal64 settings

I'm not a programmer. Taking a quick peak through that wiki, it looks like this is what you want:

http://surreal64ce.wikidot.com/settings:romsettings

So you need to calculate the CRC-1 of a clean GE/PD ROM and the hack, then copy the appropriate INI and rename it to use the hack's CRC value, and it should work. You can grab the CRC-1's from Project64's RDB (which is just a plain text file you can open in Notepad), they're the first value in the heading above a game name:

Code:
[DCBC50D1-09FD1AA3-C:45]
Good Name=GoldenEye 007 (U)

Code:
[41F2B98F-B458B466-C:45]
Good Name=Perfect Dark (U) (V1.1)

Code:
[609D608F-7E6E380E-C:45]
Internal Name=GoldenEye X

So look for 41F2B98F.ini, copy it and rename it 609D608F.ini and GoldenEye X should use the vanilla PD settings.

Thanks for your previous posts Dragonsbrethren,

I tried looking up what a CRC-1 value is on google. I found a page on wikipedia that called it a "Cyclic Redundancy Check"

What is the purpose of CRCs? What do their values represent? How do emulators use them?

I know the purpose of Goldeneye X is to play perfect dark multiplayer but with goldeneye multiplayer characters and native weapons (i.e. the RCP-90's rate of fire is set back to the faster rate from goldeneye 64).

So do the new or modified levels of goldeneye run on GoldeneyeX or do they use a different program?

Also what are RDBs and PD settings?
