I believe I fixed that weird thing where you couldn't end with spaces btw, did you incorporate that so Picked up a _ worked fine now.

The description is outdated. You can copy and paste the 'léeme.txt' I added to the files there.

About the weird thing where it couldn't be ended with spaces...
Actually I came up with a solution that worked better than actually having the issue fixed, back in the first release of the translation:

In English verbs don't have gender or number, but in Spanish they do.
In English you say 'Picked up something' while in spanish that can mean 'Recogido...' (masculine, singular); 'Recogida...' (femenine, singular); 'Recogidos...' (masculine, plural) or 'Recogidas...' (femenine, plural).

In GoldenEye, if I remember right, you have:
'Picked up ' (plural or uncountable) + 'ammo', 'mines', 'golden bullets'...
and 'Picked up a ' (singular) + 'sniper rifle', 'klobb', 'dd44', 'silenced pp7'...
GoldenEye by default had the blank space at the end of the text, but if you edit the text the space disapears. That means that the two texts are written next to each other.

Having that in mind: why do I have to end the word with the text. Instead, I did the follow:
'Recogid' + 'a munición', shown as 'Recogida munición' (Picked up ammo.)
'Recogid' + 'o circuito', shown as 'Recogido circuito' (Picked up circuit)
'Recogid' + 'as minas remotas', shown as 'Recogidas minas remotas' (Picked up remote mines)
'Recogid' + 'os documentos', shown as 'Recogidos documentos' (Picked up files)
'Recogid' + 'a granada de mano', shown as 'Recogida granada de mano' (Picked up a hand grenade)
'Recogid' + 'o cuchillo', shown as 'Recogido cuchillo' (Picked up a knife)

Because number is included in the verb, the article can be ingnored.


And here ends my Spanish lessons. I hope I've explained myself, I'm not a teacher or something, and it's to late here and I'm falling sleep.

You should also submit this to the RomHacking.net website. They have a section devoted entirely to game translations, and I think this would fit in quite nicely there.

Sogun, una pequaña corrección.

Es una solucion muy ingeniosa esa que has hecho para solucionar el tema de la concorcordancia en genero y numero, pero hay un problemilla.
Eso de "recogido/a un/a noseque" es un poco raro. y ademas nisiquiera es una buena traduccion.
El original "Picked up XXXX" lo interpretas como si el sujeto de la frase fuera lo que recoges y por tanto el verbo se refiriera a el (o sea, un XXXX ha sido recogido"), pero en realidad el sujeto de la frase es el jugador y sencillamente lo han omitido en la frase. O sea, "(YOU) picked up a XXXX", recogiste un XXXX

ademas, eso de "recoger" suena a "recoger la mesa" o "recoger a un amigo" "ir a recoger a los niños al colegio"... algo como mas planeado o "transcendente" xD.

Yo mas bien sugeriria algo como "cojiste un XXXX", o incluso sin usar el pasado "cojes un XXXX".
...o incluso sin usar el verbo cojer... de alguna forma... xD

Tienes razón, acabo de probar en el Perfect Dark y lo tradujeron como "Recogiste ...". De todas formas a mí no me suena tan mal; lo hice así porque parece un mensaje muy impersonal, como dicho por una computadora. Para algo secundario me parece que encaja bien.
Es posible que ocurra algo parecido con algún otro mensaje genérico, pero considero que son más apreciaciones que fallos de traducción.
De todas formas, si descubriera algún error gordo que se me ha pasado o unos cuantos fallos pequeños en los textos (espero que no, lo he mirado concienzudamente) lanzaría un nuevo parche. Pero dentro de bastante tiempo.

Por cierto. He intentado ponerme un avatar pero no me acepta el enlace de photobucket. ¿Algún otro sitio donde alojarlo? La imagen en cuestión es ésta

respecto a lo demas. realment si esta mal y es RARO eso de "recogido noseque". hoy en dia ya a nadie extraña porque gracias al ingles y, sin animo de ofender, a gente que no se preocupa por hacer las cosas bien o no sabe como, pero no lo es, igual que otras muchas cosas que se hacen, que se originaron en el terreno de la traduccion (principalmente del ingles), y que, gracias a ello, fueron entrando en la forma de hablar de la gente, que parece que son como esponjas.

Yo tampoco tomaria la traduccion del PD como un referente, la verdad. Creo que las traducciones se hacen con un respeto mal entendido al original, y son tan protectores con el original que terminan haciendo cosas que no estan bien en español, pero que con el tiempo calan porque a nadie parece que detecte esas cosas o no les importa una mierda...

De hecho, aunque aun no lo he jugado ni mirado a fondo, de las imagenes que vi al principio hay cosas que creo que son mejorables, como lo del "previo" en las pestañas del menu
Aunque el original ingles sea "previous" y la traduccion exacta sea "previo", creo que seria mejor poner "anterior" o incluso "atras" aunque sea una clase de palabra diferente (adverbio en vez de adjetivo).
Hay que entender el MODO de hablar un idioma y ajustar las cosas bien, porque si no acabas hablando un idioma con el MODO de hablar de otro...

Quiza te parezcan diferencias de gusto, minucias o cosas propias de un tiquismiquis... en fin, yo me limito a sugerir

Te entiendo perfectamente, yo también intento ser lo más correcto con el lenguaje que puedo. De hecho muchas veces cuando alguien con quien converso dice alguna palabra incorrecta le corrijo inconscientemente, como si fuese un tic.

Podríamos estar intercambiando mensajes durante bastante tiempo dicutiendo sobre aspectos de la traducción, pero no es algo tan importante como para perder mucho tiempo en ello. Es la primera traducción que hago y no me han pagado por ello, aunque hay por ahí traducciones profesionales que tela.

Ya que mencionas lo de '"Previous" -> "Previo". Creo que sí que me planteé poner "anterior" al principio. Es que es lo más lógico habiendo otra pestaña que pone "Siguiente". Ahora no sabría decirte por qué no lo puse así, quizás es porque quedaba descuadrado (aunque parece que hay espacio suficiente). "Atrás" creo que también me lo planteé pero al ser una palabra con acento la descarté porque no había espacios suficientes para incorporar letras mayúsculas con acentos (me refiero a las fuentes de la rom), y preferí poner otra palabra que no los usara.

Ya te digo que como ese caso habrá unos cuantos más. Existirá una palabra o traducción más precisa, pero por algún motivo de espacio o encuadre (especialmente en los diálogos) he tenido que adaptarlo lo mejor posible. Ten en cuenta que en castellano nos extendemos más que en inglés.

I actually had to e-mail them and ask if they'd authenticate my account, since nothing came through in over 24 hours. If they don't get back to you later today or early tomorrow, I'd definitely send them a message asking if they could take care of it for you.
