Good evening, or whatever what time it is when you read this.
Well I saw we already have three translations of GoldenEye,
in german,french and spanish.
Well, those are quite important languages, so it's definetly a good thing, many people are helped with it.
Now, I would be able to translate everything too,-it doesn't seem that hard-
but I don't think that's a good idea, as there aren't so many speaking this language.
So, GoldenEye in dutch?
I would be able to do it, but my goal is to make people enjoy what I make, and I don't think I will get that result.
Anyway, talk about other translations here if you like, and why those would be helpful and etc...
I thank you a lot for reading and for posting in advance Smile

If by Dutch you mean "Nederlands" than I'll be able to understand it.
I'd translate it to my native language but I'm the only one on my island that is interested in GE/PD hacking xD

Yep, I mean 'nederlands'.
That's my native language.

Dat is waar ook Paradox, jij komt van Aruba of zo? Very Happy

I believe speedruntrainer (a member here) speaks dutch too. But that's everything as far as I know.

But aside from that, I'll wait and see what "the bosses" (subdrag, wreck, zoinkity) say Laughing
It's just, I want to show some ambition, and translating is good to practice my english Smile

Inderdaad, ik zie het Smile
Dat maakt niets uit, ik begrijp je. Dat is het belangrijkste.

Anyway, I don't seem to get response from the masters Laughing , so I don't know if I should do it. I still have to finish my giant level pack...
But I do have enough courage to try it,
if I get more answers.

I don't see any harm in having another translated version of GoldenEye. It might also be good practice for you, not only with the Editor (altering so many different text files), but also with language skills. And if you find enjoyment in the process, than I'd say to go for it.

Yeah, I'm sure I will enjoy it,
but will it be useful for enough people to be relevant?

Depends on how many people actually know said language.

It's like Wreck says.
If you think you can do a good job (and I'm sure you will) then go for it!

I don't think the number of potential people using the translation matters. If there's one person that can enjoy Goldeneye because of your translation, that's good enough.

And you'll be learning things about the Editor that will help you with your future projects: text editing, knowing what the different text files are for, dialog editing, and even some texture editing too.

Good, I'll change the topic name then,
I hope I will succeed, and I'll keep you informed! Smile

Well, it's going quite well. Two levels are fully translated and work perfectly.
I encountered almost no problems in the translation process-most of the sentence constructions stay the same in dutch-but how the * do you translate oscillation??? Laughing
No worries, I've figured it out Smile

Good luck with the Dutch Translations, SilverEye - I'm looking forward to it.
And yeah, I speak Dutch too.

quick small update:
everything going fine, only problem I've encountered was freeze at certain moments but that was due to strange characters, something like ÿÿÿÿ appeared in the middle of a text, strange, but easy to solve.
So it's going quite well Smile

uhm what I wanted to ask,
Sogun, you said "texture edit too" , what did you mean with this? I can't think why I should edit texture when I'm just translating text? If I have to edit texture too this would be a problem. I'm not able to learn that and I don't seem to understand.
But tell me first, this makes me concerned...why were you speaking of texture edit?

There are a few textures that have English text used in the menus and even on levels. Here are some examples from my Spanish Translation:

http://i1185.photobucket.com/albums/z345/Sogunesp/GES12.jpg

I edited them using Paint, so it's really easy.

oh sh*t ...
If I knew I had to edit textures too...
I even fail in simply replacing textures...Guess I'll have to learn more about it then...

Could you explain me please,if not asked too much, how to change such text? Understanding Paint won't be that hard but I have no idea how to replace for example the red "classified"-text with something else...

I'll download your translation too, Sogun, so that I can see which things I have to translate too, aside from the text files.

*sigh* This is going to take some time...translating the text files should be done around end of July I think, if I don't decide to work more on the big level pack...Now, with this news, I think both projects will be finished around august 2014..with some luck I'll be able to release the big level pack this august, but I really can't predict that...In a whole year, I have only two months (July and August) that I can work intensively on it.

Scr*w deadlines, I'll just see what happens, if I can't get to understand texture edit the translation project will stop but I'll promise you that the big level pack will be released Smile
I won't quit that fast Very Happy
but now, help me understanding the art of texture edit,please.. Very Happy
