The Trailer preset of the back part of the red truck. That you also see in Depot but as part of the level. Has there or ever will be a full on texture on it instead of it being completely shaded in black? I have heard that you can see the colors but under certain amount of light, But I never seen it happen.

It's a problem with the display lists. Textures will never appear except possibly inverted against very particular surfaces (basically, a kind of microcode glitch).

I think we fixed it at some point, but that was a long while back.

Actually it's just shading - all the vertices are shaded to 0,0,0. Not sure why. Strangely four vertices has 0xFE alpha too, but that's probably an accident and not impacting anything, or maybe is the tires or something.

Ahh... Then it was an alpha collision ignoring the shading in the second room geometry block that was making them visible. Makes total sense that way.

Wasn't there a fixed version at some point?

So has there been a fix for this? Maybe an updated editor with the trailer fully visible?

It's not an editor bug, but if you shade it properly and import from visual should be ok ingame.

Although we treat those values as vertex colors, back then they were called "precomputed lighting". In other words, when they generated the model they forgot to set a light source. It's like it's always in an unlit, black room.

A quick fix would be to use the vertex color tool and set everything white. I suppose exporting and importing again would also reset the colors; Wavefront objs can't store them, after all.

Actually can the release of the editor import the modified obj files I was working on?

What would happen if I re texture the trailer? Would it stay as a black shadow?

If you just shade it in editor, and import from visual to edit model, then inject should be ok ingame.

There are other areas in the game shaded completely black as well - one example being the tunnel at the end of the train (after you exit the train) - I had worked on a train mod a while back, unfortunately I can't track down any of my screenshots.
